with filmmaker Patrick Wang
Saturday, April 9, 2016
11 AM - 1 PM
Stage Two - Columbia College
618 S Michigan Ave, 2nd floor
This special session with critically acclaimed filmmaker Patrick Wang (In the Family, The Grief of Others) explores a wide range of new and current strategies for filmmakers who are seeking to take a more active role in the distribution of their work. New possibilities in distribution do not just come from new technology, but also from new thinking. Drawing upon his background in economics as well as filmmaking, Wang has chosen unusual paths to successfully find an audience for his films, sometimes working alone as well as working with a range of partners in different countries. Wang will discuss his diverse experiences as well as ideas for distribution yet to be tried.
