Join us for an intimate evening celebrating love in its many forms through Alexie Young’s film, Take 290, produced by Full Spectrum Features as part of the Community Storytellers program. We’ll begin with a thought-provoking introduction exploring the essence of love as a creative process before diving into the film.
Take 290 follows a defeated artist from the Westside of Chicago who finds inspiration in the common ground she discovers through a spontaneous interaction with an art curator from the Southside.
Following the screening, engage in thought-provoking activities that encourage discussion and reflection, including our "Hot Seat" segments featuring local artists Manasseh (musician) and Kenn Cook Jr. (photographer), who will discuss their contributions to the film and their experiences within the Black Chicago community. Black Film Club Chicago will lead the conversation alongside them, diving deep into the complexities of love and culture in the city.
We invite you to celebrate the artistry and effort that go into creating and sharing stories, as we illuminate the connections that weave through our communities. Together, let’s uncover the true essence of loving and being loved in the vibrant tapestry of Chicago.
Light snacks, water, and wine will be available for guests.
