PRODUCER
Yuki Sakamoto Solomon (she/her) is the founder of Coyote Sun Productions (CSP), a Chicago-based film production company, and an associate producer at Full Spectrum Features. Solomon, former program director for NHK, currently works as a film producer, collaborating with filmmakers to create socially themed films. In 2020, Solomon co-produced an innovative feature documentary MAYDAY directed by MARIKO Tetsuya. The film focuses on the universal human connection through food and depicts the isolation experiences of people in 10 countries on 5 continents during the world COVID crisis. Solomon also participated in the Mariko's Japan-US co-production COYOTE, which was produced in Chicago and Tokyo in 2019 and was released in theaters in the fall of 2021. She is currently collaborating as a producer from the U.S. on a new film LIGHTNING OVER THE BEYOND by HANNO Yoshihiro, an established film composer for leading Asian directors such as Hou Hsiao-hsien and Jia Zhang-ke, and the film has been officially selected and premiered at Tokyo International Film Festival in 2022. CSP is passionate about building bridges between Japanese and American culture through film, and with a view toward future distribution of indie Japanese films in North America, Solomon founded the Chicago Japan Film Collective, the first Japanese film festival in the Midwest. The inaugural Festival, held in May 2021, drew viewers from 30 states during its seven-day run and recorded 750 streams. She enjoys spending time with her two sons and a dog as well as traveling and teaching math.
